Website completly down due to MySQL - MySQL

Hi, We had a website that is completly down due to MySQL. If we look at the processes (TOP) of the linux server with apache 2.0 : httpd (PHP) takes 10-12% and MySQL takes 1% of the CPU. CPU available is 80%. There are more or less 10 people per minute connected to the website : http://tinyurl.com/vjble. MySQL scripts are well written : open connections, then close at the end of the querry. Our hosting companies mention MySQL script as the problem. In all logs (httpd, mysqld, applications) : nothing. Open DNS server reported as normal on http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=adverland.com. Many thanks ...

    Hi,

We had a website that is completly down due to MySQL.

If we look at the processes (TOP) of the linux server with apache 2.0 :
httpd (PHP) takes 10-12% and MySQL takes 1% of the CPU.

    CPU available is 80%.

There are more or less 10 people per minute connected to the website :
    http://tinyurl.com/vjble.

MySQL scripts are well written : open connections, then close at the
    end of the querry.

Our hosting companies mention MySQL script as the problem. In all logs
    (httpd, mysqld, applications) : nothing.

Open DNS server reported as normal on

    Many thanks for your advise.

    I don't see the problem.
You are complaining that MySQL is downing your server, but you don't have any evidence of it.
The database happens to be the only thing your hosting people don't understand and they blame it
rather than, say, the PHP scripts.

Now, there is no such a thing as a MySQL script in a web server. You may have Perl scripts, PHP scripts,
Python scripts, which call a MySQL database. If your logs mention MySQL, the only explanation is that
the scripts that are querying the database are badly written.

Look harder. The problem is closer.

What part of this is "down"? There's available CPU, and no errors, and
the site at the tinyurl link responds, though seems perhaps slightly
bandwidth-starved (images load slowly even for my crummy link).
