Default Website counter - How? Where?

    Hi all,

I'm a self-taught Contribute newbie who has been made responsible for updating
the website at work (scary stuff!) I've been asked to add a counter to record
the number of visits to our web page but don't have a clue how to do this. We
have Contribute Version 3. Any hints? Thanks in anticipation for any tips :)

i did a search on Google for "web counter" and found a bunch of sites offering
free web counter HTML code, so you have lots of options there. Contribute
itself doesn't allow you to edit HTML code, but does provide a way for you to
edit a pages HTML code of a page in another application, even just a regular
text editor. The trick is to use a feature called "Edit Source in External
Editor", which is in the File > Actions submenu. Copy your web counter code,
then bring up Contribute and edit the page you want to place the code on. Then
select the "Edit Source..." menu item... if things don't work at this point,
you may need to turn this menu item on in the Administration dialogs, and set
the target source editor app in the Preference dialog. Once the source code
appears, scroll down towards the bottom and paste the web counter code in.
Then switch back to Contribute and click the "Edit in Contribute" link in the
middle of the window. Your counter should appear (although not funciton) in
edit mode... then you can publish your page, and Voila.
