    Default Website Sound

I am somewhat of a novice in designing websites and need some help. I have
tried finding information on placing sound in a website, but having this sound
file not reload and play continuously whenever one goes to another page in the
site. Infact, I am looking for help in answering the following questions:

    1. How can you put a sound file, using Flash or something else in a website
so that it does not need to be reloaded and starts from the beginning of the
sound file / song. What I am getting at is if someone goes to the next page in
your site, the sound / song does continues without stopping or reloading? It
    just continues on........

    2. Is there a way to have a sound object (radio or something similiar) on the
home page that allows changing of the sound characteristics (loudness, on or
off), for the entire site without having put this sound object on each page in
the site to change the sound on those pages that one goes to in the site? As
in if you change the level of volume on home page, it will stay the same for
the remainder of pages or if you don't want the sound at all, by stopping the
playing of it, it does so for all the pages?

    Help would be greatly appreciated!

You can embed a media player to whatever size you need it, on the webpage. It
    will have a volume control.

To make a sound play seamlessly from one page to another is not a thing that I
would know how to do, nor have I seen it done. Why people would want it is
    another question.

I'd always advise to use javascript and embed a media player and style it with
css also. If the user leaves that page they leave the song because the media
player is embedded on a certain page.

If you had a few pages in some order, you could split an audio file so that
each page would load the song. You could meddle with editing to perfect it but
    would skip.

Don't know if flash could do it, but doubt it.

Never thought about splitting the audio files for certain pages. Good idea!
The reason I thought about this is that I put a song on a website and once I
changed to a different page, that song started all over. It get's kind of
tiring listening to the same thing over and over.

I see why people do not like, for the most part, sites with sound on them. I
suppose an alternative to this is to find a smaller sound file or just put the
    song on certain pages.

    Thanks.

There are some exceptions to the music rule, you might be a musician and you
expect music websites to maybe do this.

If you can get Acid Pro, it would be quite easy to splt an audio file, and if
you reduce the bit-rate to 28 k, it will be a small file size.

Good luck, glad I've thought of something useful.
