InDesign CS 3.01, Windows 2000

I have long used Ctrl-spacebar to activate the zoom, then select the
area I want to zoom in on. This has always worked flawlessly in all
Adobe apps, including InDesign.

Since adding 3.01 (and maybe before, but I didn't use it enough before
adding 3.01 to recall) there is a weird thing happening sometimes.
Suppose the cursor is in some text at the top of a page. I want to
zoom in on some text at the bottom of the page. I hit Ctrl-spacebar
and mark the area I want to zoom in on. InDesign zooms all right, but
at the point where the cursor is at the top of the page, not where I
marked it to zoom. Not only that, but when I look at the area where
the cursor is, I notice that it has added a space (probably from the
spacebar).

Before someone yells that I am not holding the keys down properly, let
me say that I have exercised extreme care to make sure both the Ctrl
key and the spacebar are held down firmly before marking the area I
want to zoom in on. Furthermore, I note that the screen zooms first to
the correct area for a split second, then to the area where the cursor
is located. I should add that if the cursor is in some text several
pages away, that's where I end up after zooming.

It doesn't appear to be a problem if a tool other than the text tool
is selected or the cursor is not in a block of text.

The workaround is to make sure the cursor is in the area where I want
to zoom before zooming.

I never experienced this before. Is this a bug? Has anyone else run
into this?
