WHAT COMPUTER IS BEST FOR LARGE IMAGES ?
I am routinely working on large files - 800MB to 1.6Gb, and my Photoshop Scratch file size routinely goes to 4Gb. The problem I have is that it takes ages to get anything done, and I want to upgrade my PC to something faster, but am unsure of what to upgrade to.
Photoshop is mostly what I use.
I have to use a PC as the main application I use for producing lenticulars is available for PC only.
I currently have an AMD Athlon 2.0 Ghz CPU, 1.5Gb DDR RAM, Ultra 320MB SCSI Drives, Matrox G450 Display card.
I am running Windows 2000 and Photoshop 6.01
Can anyone out there help with some suggestions ?

XP Pro and W2K Pro both addresses 4GB.

Unclear re XP Home?
Of course, your mobo must also be able to see it.
There's also something about "virtual address space of processes and
applications is still limited to 2 GB unless the /3GB switch is used in
the Boot.ini file."

64 bit versions can do 16GB, I've read elsewhere also.
