What Do Users Need to Play SWF>
I am creating a training video with Captivate 2 for our federal government
agency. When I'm finished, I'm going to publish it as an .SWF file. One of the
guys who designs on our web pages asked me what program users need to view the
Captivate.swf file. The answer is apparently is either Shockwave or the Adobe
Flash Player. Or could it be either one? I'm obviously confused about this. If
the users in our federal govt. agency don't have the correct software, they
can't play the .swf file.
Can someone please clarify this issue for me? Do the users need Shockwave,
Adobe Flash, or can both applications play .swf files?
Thanks,
Robert

Re: What Do Users Need to Play SWF>
Swf is the flash format, users must have the Adobe Flash Player.
When you install the Shockwave Player (for .dcr files), a flash player
is install at the same times but it's for playing Flash into Shockwave
Player.
I never test if Shockwave alone can play swf files.
but Flash Player is install on 98% of Internet viewers

Re: What Do Users Need to Play SWF>
SWF is indeed a Macromedia Shockwave file, now owned by Adobe. The simplest way I know to play .SWF files is to download from Adobe the "Shockwave Player", which is really an Internet Explorer plug-in, in Windows Explorer / Tools View, associate the .swf file extension with Internet Explorer.
