    Default What Does CPS DO???

    Hi,

Can anybody tell me what Content Publishing Server does that Contribute can't do on it's own?

    Thanks,

We use it to set up roles using the Active Directory, to monitor the logs to
see who is doing what and when on the site, and to use webservices like an rss
feed that ports the log into a database for us and auto file deployment that
lets users publish across a multi-server environment.

It's pretty useful for large, corporate sites.

The other function that CPS performs is to distribute (forward) SOA messages
and this can be used to integrate Contribute with other systems via services.
We've POC'd this and got it working.

Basically, most events in Contribute generate a SOAP message that doesn't go
anywhere until you configure CPS to forward it on Contribute's behalf. You
can't bypass CPS and have Contribute directly communicate with a web service
receiver via SOA - it's been engineered so that CPS is the only possible
receiver for the events and then can act as a proxy and forward them on.
