What is "PDFMessage"?

    Default What is "PDFMessage"?

Does anyone know exactly what the pdfMessage file in the Illustrator Plugins folder is for? Can it be deleted or removed safely? Several comments have been made which indicate this file automatically loads when Illustrator launches, and seems to attempt to use the font Myriad. Frankly, I'm beginning to get suspicious that it may have something to do with the rampant problems people seem to be having with the font Myriad taking over their text selections, and possibly with the "pdf format" save problem as well (when people are trying to save as .ai). Since I haven't been able to duplicate their problems on my system, I can't determine if this file actually has anything to do with it.

Can anyone provide information on this file and how it effects Illustrator?

The PDF Message document is use when someone save as native illustartor
(.ai) without the PDF compatibility. This file is then save alog the
document and is only visible if someone is trying to open the native .ai
document with Acrobat. Then, in acrobat, you will see this document. You
can customize it if you want.

I donąt think it is related in anyway with the problems you are talking
    about.

I forget, this message will also be seen when placed the .ai doc in
Indesign or any other apps supporting PDF.

If you're right then that's all the more reason to suspect the file. The problem people have shows up at the very moment they try to save an .ai document (w/o pdf compatibility). Furthermore, this document has been prompting missing font dialogs in some people's browsers, which were apparently solved by deleting the file from the Plugins folder. It seems plausible that the file could become corrupt, or be conflicting with something else on their system.

Which is exactly the reason why I converted the text to outlines in the PDF Message file in Illustrator CS. If you want to avoid issues in your case (with Illustrator 10), simply open the file, convert the text to outlines, and save it -- then distribute it throughout your company.
