What is the latest PS 8 news?
When should we expect a release date? How about Illustrator 11, and
InDesign 3?

Re: What is the latest PS 8 news?
Sigh.
No one knows the answer to your questions. If it's not on the Adobe Web Site, it hasn't been announced. Anyone who really knows is under non-disclosure to keep their mouth shut. Anyone who quotes dates, features, etc. of products that have not been announced, is trying to sell you a bridge.

Release dates, to be sure, but there have been reports in the past that were accurate in revealing the features of future Adobe products.
Adobe is generally quite good at keeping info under wraps, but something always slips out eventually.

And would you bet on the rumors as qualified info?

I would bet that they are at least partially accurate, if not fairly accurate.
Information on InDesign 2, Photoshop 7 and illustrator 10 was leaked before they were announced, and the information was largely correct.
NDAs don't entirely prevent people from talking, putting out screen shots, or beta copies from finding their way to the seedier parts of the net.

Re: What is the latest PS 8 news?
No doubt that's true, but until there's an official announcement, it's rumor and innuendo, nothing more.
I'm betting there'll be nested layers, text on a path, no more 1 TB disk size limit, and no more 2 gig file limit.
But when someone asks? Officially? The most correct answer is "I don't know, and neither does anyone else who does not work for Adobe".
Even Beta testers don't know - features are often removed post beta.

I just hopes it makes espresso
But we'll never know exactly what it was that should be able to do that--or when.
This is the first time a post of mine has been deleted.

Re: What is the latest PS 8 news?
i'm hoping for adjustment layer filters; filterable adjustment layers; layer filter adjustments... whatever. but live and updatable like the hsl adjustment layer for example.
100 years old?!! ok yea, for you... half off. :)

Tony - you do realize that variations is just a sick UI on top of curves or color balance, right?

Chris,

No, it never occurred to me. I basically have two approaches - the long tedious one creating adjustment layers and guessing, or I use the variations command and tweak from there.
I mean, like anything, you can create it all from scratch - hell you can create pattern from scratch. I just think it would be slick to be able to capture whatever settings Variations uses and apply them so they're non-destructive.
<laughing> If I could build it from scratch, I wouldn't use Variations!

LOL! I almost dropped on my chair upon reading that one. I mean, sorry, the way you post...you looked like very knowledgeable in Photoshop.

klaas, yea i think he MEANT sick! :)
Eco, using all the tools available (including the basic ones) means you ARE very knowledgeable in Photoshop.
If you can do in variations in 10 minutes what it'd take you an hour to do in levels and curves, and you have 1000's of images to process a day (Tony's own little hell <g>) which would you choose? :)

Yeah, especially the first time you're jamming in a band and they take off in a direction you weren't anticipating, then you abruptly follow suit - no one knows but you, how close you came to looking like an idiot <grin>
