Whats the best way ?? - Macromedia Contribute General Discussion

I have just purchased Contribute to allow our marketing department to add content to our web site. Up until now I've had a local copy on my C drive which I publish to a test server for approval before publishing to the live server. What is the best way to set the site up now Contribute is being used as I'm worried there could be version control issues. I'll be doing template changes, new pages and navigation changes, Marketing will be doing changes to the body text of the site. The site in question is Regards Stuarthttp://www.exeterfriendly.co.uk...

Contribute is designed to handle version control issues. In fact, I recently
had a problem where I could not edit files because "files were checked out for
editing". This had happened when I downloaded files from the remote in
Dreamweaver. I had to figure out how to release the files so they could be
    edited.

In general: Set yourself up as Administrator and others as either publisher
or writer. Files get "check out" by someone who is editing and cannot be
edited by anyone else until they are checked back in or published.

    Hope this helps.

Not only does Contribute automatically perform version control through
the Check In / Check Out feature in Dreamweaver (if someone is editing
a file it won't let anyone else edit it), but it also allow you to
store rollback versions of the site so that if someone makes a change
that you don't want, you can easily roll it back to a previous version.

If you are using Contribute in combination with Dreamweaver, be sure
that you use the Check In / Check Out buttons in DW rather than Get/Put.
