Whats the difference between the web and standaloneplayer? - Macromedia Flash Player

There is a website that I view flash animation from. Default Whats the difference between the web and standaloneplayer?

There is a website that I view flash animation from. After viewing them I go to
    my temporary internet folder
(os winXp) and copy the flash animations to a folder for private personal
viewing but I can't get them to play.
You can only use the flash player 8 to view flash from the web only thats
    stupid.
After that I downloaded macromedia flash 8 proffisonal and soon after I could
    play the copied swf files.
I discovered that flash 8 proffisonal comes with a standalone flash player to
view your self made swf files after
you create em and publish them. My question is: Is that standalone flash
player free becuase I only downloaded
the 30 day trial after it expires do I lose the stand alone player also? If so
why can't there be flash player availble so you can
view copied flash from the internet, Is there a free download of a standalone
player or can you buy one, becuase it seems
stupid to pay 700 us dollars for macromedia flash proffisonall 8 just for
    the standalone flash player!

Unless they've changed things with Lfash 8, the stand-alone player never
    expires.

And if it does, you cakn make your own in a few seconds. Start Flash 8,
save empty movie as a projector. That projector can now be registered as
the player for swf files and becomes a stnadalone player. it won't expire
    and can be freely redistributed.
