What's up with InDesign CS2 and Saving as EPS?
What's up with InDesign CS2 and Saving as EPS?
I have tried several times.
Saves to my desktop, says it's an EPS file,
yet I can not open in Photoshop nor Illustrator.
Why? Why? Why?
When I save am I missing a step?
And as an EPS will it be flattened and un-editable should I get it into Illustrator?
Need to take an InDesign CS2 file and convert it to an Illustration file for a friend.
Thanks!

Re: What's up with InDesign CS2 and Saving as EPS?
EPS is definitely going to be "flattened" in the sense there won't be any live transparency. Preview should also be able to open the EPS file to verify it was correctly saved.
You might also explore saving it as a PDF if you're planning to edit it afterwards.

Re: What's up with InDesign CS2 and Saving as EPS?
try EXPORT as EPS (instead of Save As)...make sure OPI is turned off(advanced settings)...but it will be 'flattened'--you should be able to open in illustrator...and I believe ALL images will be embedded.

Doesn't anyone realize that EPS files are not intended to be edited any
more so than PDF?
Can you place the EPS file back into ID? If so, it's fine.
FWIW, when EPS files are needed, I always export to PDF and then create
the EPS file in Acrobat.

Re: What's up with InDesign CS2 and Saving as EPS?
I know that you have to do it with Export, that is the only way to do it.
My problem is for some reason the EPS does Not open in Photoshop or Illustrator.
I realize though that it's no big deal, I can just copy the elements from InDesign right into Illustrator and reformat.
Easy.

Did you do command-i to open Get Info window? There you can select default app to open eps file. You can also select option to open all files with .eps extension with AI or PS.
