Default When printing PowerPoint to PDF using Acrobat writer I get black boxes

I have a client who is trying to create PDF files from Powerpoint slides, using PDF Writer. #1 The slides have .png icons and graphics on them, created in Illustrator saved for web as .pngs files and then the .png files have been inserted into powerpoint.
When my client converts the slides to a pdf with "print to" PDF (2 per page) using Acrobat Writer... the icons all have solid black boxes around them.
#2 I cannot recreate the problem on my desktop. I am running windows 2000 and they are running XP. I do not have the "option" to print to "Acrobat writer", I can only use Acrobat Distiller.
#3 When I try to Print to PDF from my XP laptop I cannot get it to print a PDF at all. I get error messages. Anyone seen this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Never, ever, ever, ever use PDFWriter to make PDFs, especially if they contain graphics.

    EVER.

    Use Distiller instead.

Seriously, never use PDFWriter. It's been discontinued for a reason.

What about XP? I still can't get it to work on my laptop with XP. Everytime I use Distiller to print even on slide, it crashes or I get error messages. any word?

Make sure you are using Acrobat 5.0.5 on WinXP.

What error messages do you get when printing to Acrobat Distiller printer from Powerpoint?

And this is if they print to Acrobat Distiller rather than PDFWriter?

PDFWriter is now obsolete (not included with Acrobat 6) and was never very good at anything other than simple text files.
