Default Where is Descreening in Photoshop CS?

I am looking to scan old magazine pages and I am getting stuck with the moire problem. I have been doing my research on new scanners but I would like to save a little $$ since I have a decent scanner and try to fix this problem with Photshop. I have heard of several different solutions.
1: Scan image at an angle.
    2. Put glass between image and scanner bed.
    3. Descreen.

But I can't find the descreening option. Is it the same at despeckle??

    Ashley,

The scanning software is the place to look for descreening settings, if your scanner software has that capability. You want to get rid of the moiré patterns during scanning.

You want to prevent the undesirable patterns before they get into your image.

No, Despeckling is not the same. That's to get rid of, well, speckles in an existing image.

If you do a Google search on moiré patterns, you'll get many hits like this:

    Ramon-

Thanks for the website. I checked it out. Very informative. I am much better when I see a picture than having someone describe to what it is going to look like. Do you have any opinions on scanners?

Epson for imaging baby. Epson, IMO, makes the best scanners and printers (for consumer use, anyway).
