Which is best Pixel Dimension or Resolution Pixel/inch?
Can somebody advise me on something that I'm not too sure about in
Fireworks? I have many images that I want to put up on a new site. When I
get them I want to reduce these to about 8sec download each but I'm a little
confused as to the settings regarding image size.
For example, if I want to have an image 470px wide should I change the
'Pixel Dimension' only or 'Resolution Pixel/inch' or both? Up to now I have
been changing the image size and then 'Jpeg Better Quality' and the result
is usually very good. But I find if I use the 'Resolution Pixel/inch'
instead I can get a similar result so which is best?
Many thanks for any help
Regards
Brian

Although 72 pixels per inch is standard, you really do not need to worry
about resolution for web graphics. One pixel in the image is mapped to one
pixel on the screen and resolution is ignored. Only for print is resolution
meaningful. So, just adjust the image size (dimensions) to what you need.
