Phil;

For 9.2, the probable best version was 5.5. I have used v. 6.x and it did run well in 9.2. But v.6 was the transitional version from OS 9 to OS X and there were certain behavior issues (nothing major, just performance annoyances).

So my best recommendation is v.5.5.

Actually I found 5.5 Buggy and I used 9.2.2.

The best ever version they came out with was 5.0.1e

Then again, which version is the best might be irrelevant unless you can actually find a legitimate source to purchase it. You can only buy the latest version through Adobe.

There use to be a company called Sun Remarketting that would buy up
outdated software from Companies (unopened packages) either from the
software Companies or the vendors and sell at a reduced price.

http://www.sunrem.com.

I ddon't know if the are still in business or not, or are still allowed
to do the same thing or not.

They're not in business. At the link you gave, pjonesCET, only the blog was active. Bob Cook said in the blog thread, "Sun Remarketing is not in business, yes this is more like a public service. I have a storage unit with some parts and a head fill of Apple History. If you are looking for spare parts for older machine maybe I can help."

Phil;

If you have trouble finding an older copy, I might have colleagues who have former editions. Just drop me a line @ acrobat8mrc@shaw.ca

Cheers

Just be careful that you are buying a legit copy that can be registered to you.

I've seen a lot of times when someone upgrades and they think they can sell the older version.

(pgary has been around long enough so he would know if that were the case)
