White borders on photos - Adobe Indesign Macintosh

Hi, I've placed a few photos on a color brochure layout. I have a tan overall background behind photos. I added 4 pt. white rules to photos as borders, sized and moved the photos to show area I want. When I print either a press-ready or proof quality pdf, a little bit of the photo is showing outside the 4pt white border on two sides (not the same two sides on photos.) Default White borders on photos

    Hi,
I've placed a few photos on a color brochure layout. I have a tan overall background behind photos. I added 4 pt. white rules to photos as borders, sized and moved the photos to show area I want.

When I print either a press-ready or proof quality pdf, a little bit of the photo is showing outside the 4pt white border on two sides (not the same two sides on photos.) I've enlarge the pdf image on screen quite a bit and it still shows. I also tried placing the photos without borders on one layer and placing the white 4pt borders on a layer on top of that, same result. I also tried selecting "crop image data to frames" to see if it would make a difference, it didn't.

When I make a b&w laser print, I can't see this extra bit of photo outside the white, but on the pdf it shows even in the "separations preview."

The photos that are the exact size as the border are not doing this. Do I need to crop my photos to the exact same proportion as my borders before I import them?

Using IDCS, OS 10.3.5, G4. Thanks for the input.

Are you fully patched to CS 3.0.1 (838)?

Try putting the stroke on the centre of the frame, not the inside. I was plagued by this bug in InDesign 3 and it's still not fixed.

Yoli, do all photo frames have the same stroke alignment: center, inside, outside? When you scaled the frames, did you have the scale stroke option selected? Try "Clear Overides" and reapply stroke. I had the same situation, and for the life of me can not remember what I did to resolve it.

Bob - not up to 3.0.1 yet. In the budget this year though, I'm a one-person shop.

Scott - Your tip worked to solve the problem: edges are all clean on proof- and press-quality pdfs, thank you.

Jeffrey - thanks. I did not have the scale strokes option selected.

I'll see it when I believe it.

I think Jay's reference was to upgrading. I think Scott's reference was
    to getting the bug fixed.
