Who can do a "replace-style-but-only-in-specific-layer" script?
Hi all,
I'm new to ID, so sorry if I ask an obvious question here.
But I need to be able to search for and replace styles within a
specific layer.
Example: In layer A I have words tagged up with "oldheading". I want to
search and replace that with "newheading". But I want to leave the
oldheading in layer B untouched.
Any ideas? Do I need a script to do that?

Re: Who can do a "replace-style-but-only-in-specific-layer" script?
I believe that styles are not layer specific, so even a script wouldn't
help. I could be wrong, I'm not a scripting expert. My guess is that
you would have to do that manually. In the future, if you have text on
separate layers, you could of course name them to be specific for each
layer. Doesn't do you much good now of course. But then hindsight is
20/15.

Re: Who can do a "replace-style-but-only-in-specific-layer" script?
Just a suggestion, though I must admit, I haven't tried the following.
If you lock all the layers that you don't want to change, then make sure the
layer you want to apply changes to is selected/active, perhaps those changes
would only be applied to the layer that is NOT locked.
I think I'll try this when I get to work today. I don't have a need to do
this right now on any project I'm currently working on, however, I still
would like to know if this method works in case I need to do this myself one
day.
Good luck!
