Why can't I use a bitmap image over a video?
I have a video clip. I've also created a 32 bit alpha channel image of an
old TV. The idea is that the video clip plays "inside" the old TV (the alpha
channel knocks out the "tube" of the TV picture) but when I place the video
on the stage, and then place the image over it (and yes, they're on the
right layers, I checked that) the video still sits on "top" of the correctly
displaying bitmap with alpha channels...
What gives?

video plays better direct to stage. If you want to place something 'over'
the video, you have to turn DTS off.

Is there anyway to get better playback? I only ask because this is NOT going
to be distributed, and I know in advance what computer is going to play this
projector, and it'll be completely dedicated to doing so.

Why not just break the alpha image up into p4 pieces and put it around your video instead of on top of it. That way you get your look and good video performance.

Nevermind. I actually placed alpha channels in the video and masked the
background out. That way the video plays on top (DTS) and sits "in" my
frame. Works like a charm. Quicktime rules. I don't know what I'd do without
Quicktime Pro.
