Why did XP Upgrade Write Protect All My Files and Folders?

    Default Why did XP Upgrade Write Protect All My Files and Folders?

    After upgrading Windows ME to Windows XP Home edition I
    find all of my files and folders Write protected. I have
    manually tried to alter their attribute but they just
    keep returning to this status. Is there a fix for this?
