Why do files increase in size by 4-5 times now?
Can anyone explain this to me?
I have discovered that with the new CS all of my files blow out to 4-5 times the size when saved - this is when I save as .ai or .eps. A simple vector graphic that was under 100k saved in older programs when slightly adjusted in the new Illustrator are now around 500K. This is too high for a simple graphic. I've tried disabling the .pdf functionality (thinking this would reduce the file size) but then it actually creates an even bigger file and then I can't import it into InDesign.
I do recognise how fantastic it is to be able to import .pdf's into illustrator and be able to re-work vector images but file sizes blowing out to 5x is totally unacceptable when I'm trying to send clients copies of logos for their files - the files are just too big!
Any ideas?

Samantha, I know the problem : get rid of your unused swatches (Formes, styles colours and gradients) and that'll help a bit. but AICS docs are heavier than older versions.
