Default why do jpegs go to 12?

I know it's kind of an old question, but I really never know whether to stop at 10 or crank it to 12. What's with that? Should I stop at 10? Thanks

Don't know why. 12 is the least destructive, least compression. Only you can judge what setting you can use based on the intent of the image.
