why dont it work

errr hi i can get to work on my internet but if i playsumin local to my pc it keeps using flash player 7

hi to all of you out there!!! I dont have a scooby about computers and
constantly find the same problem with flashplayer I just hope some1 out there
might please please please be able to help - it would really put me out of my
misery!!!

many site that I go on request that I need to install flash player to view the
flash player material on that site. The thing is I have already intalled the
latest version of the damned thing plenty of times. I got a feeling it's the
software that im downloading but perhaps something on me laptop(???).

occaisionally I get prompted that me javascript may be turned off but having
checked it through the internet options it appears on/enabled.

when I download the flashplayer the "Download success" animation appears.
However when I attempt to go on sites with flash player material on it
annoyingly prompts me to download the latest version of flash player which I
had only just done 30 seconds ago!!!!

whats the crack behind this then??? am I just being dense and overlooking
something really simple. If theres any kind soul out there that might be of
assistance it would be so apreciated
