Why garbage when copying text from pdf document?
Get garbage when trying to copy text from a pdf document. Touch up text tool says 'unable to copy' also.
Is this caused by me not having the font installed from the original document, and if so, what can I do to copy the text?

PS7.0.1 prints out as garbage text on HP Printer

Sounds like the PDF was not produced in a way that made the text usuable for anything other than printing.
Contact the person who created the document and ask for them to use a better tool (perhaps Acrobat itself).

Randall, did you check the Security settings in Document Properties? You may be able to change them to enable what you want.

Leonard is correct, but firstly ensure you're using the SELECT tool to
COPY the text and if still unsuccessful, check the PDF creator by going
File/Properties/Description/PDF Producer/
