Why InDesign Prints Differently Than Pagemaker
This one really has me puzzled. When I print a 4x6 photo to my HP 5550 printer using the borderless prints with tab setup option, InDesign truncates at the bottomn so that the printed area is only 4x5 5-8 inches. But if I put the exact same image into Pagemaker 7 and print exactly the same way, Pagemaker prints the inage out properly '' that is the entire 4x6 image. Why does PM handle this correctly but ID does not_

Re: Why InDesign Prints Differently Than Pagemaker
Because you have the printer set-up incorrectly when using InDesign.
But I don't know enough about that printer to be specific. Is it PostScript? What page size are you selecting and where are you selecting it?
I know that ID can print 4x6 correctly because I happen to be doing exactly that right now to my Epson 1200.

Re: Why InDesign Prints Differently Than Pagemaker
No the HP 5550 is an inkjet printer. But I have the EXACTLY the same printer setup in ID that I'm using for Pagemaker. What it looks like is that ID is subtracting the 1/2 inch or so for the tab (the photo paper is actually 4x6.5) whereas PM doesn't. PM is printng the entire live 4x6 area. ID is printing 4x5.5.

Re: Why InDesign Prints Differently Than Pagemaker
I think I "might" have this figured out, but I still think this is a design bug. When you go to "print", you have to click the "setup" button at the bottom of the dialogue box (this is the only way to get to the HP print quality options. You can't access these though ID). In the the HP setup area you can select 4x6 borderless with tab. Closing the HP setup takes you back to the InDesign print interface. If you click on the "setup" menu (below general) ID has changed the paper type to "Borderless Photo 4x6". You then have to manually change the paper size to "Borderless Photo 4x6 (with tab)". So for some reason ID is picking up the wrong paper size, which you have to correct befreo yu can print. Maybe it can't read anything in parentheses (with tab)? I don't have the same problem with Pagemaker becasue it doesn't have a separate print setup dialog.

Re: Why InDesign Prints Differently Than Pagemaker
Ah, we cross posted.
Once you get it right, you should be able to make a style that captures all the critical settings to make it easier for the next job.
