Wild color shifts with "Match Color" - Adobe Photoshop Mac CS, CS2 & CS3

I too am getting unexpected results with image -> adjustments -> match color... take two head & shoulder portraits: I have my destination image targeted. I select skin tone areas that I want to match in my source and my target images. I have "Use selection in___ to calculate..." checked on and "Ignore selection when applying..." checked as well. I have the source file and its appropriate layer selected in "Source" The resulting adjustment is WAY WONKIE! what am i missing?...

    Ed,

Skin tones can vary a lot from person to person. Lighting conditions also greatly affect skin tone, this may be what causes the wonkiness.

When we print a series of portraits (from film, using a Frontier) the tech look at the background almost as much as the subject unless instructed to do otherwise by the customer. If they only look at the skin tones, then the same grey background will look cyan in one shot, magnta in another and yellow in a third.
