Will Flash optimize image sizes?
Hello again everybody :)
I have a question about the optimization of pictures placed in a Flash stage.
If I put a big sized pictures (for example: 1024 x 1024) and if, in the final
result, the picture is downscaled on the Flash stage (for example : 200x200
pixels), once the swf is created , will the picture be as heavy as before it
was downscaled, when the flash web site will be loaded in browsers?
Thanks
Gz

Re: Will Flash optimize image sizes?
No. Flash will not alter the imported file's size and/or resolution no matter
how much you resize it on the stage. You should resize your images in an
external graphics application like Photoshop, Fireworks, or Gimp before
importing into Flash. You should also export images from these applications as
PNG files. Flash works very well with these files because of their
transparency and higher resolution, but also their smaller file sizes.
You can also export image files out of Flash.
1) Create a new Flash file.
2) Import your images to the library.
3) Resize the Stage to however small you want your images to be.
4) Drag an image onto the stage and resize it to the Stage size. Align it to
the center.
5) Go to File>Export>Export Image and a dialog box will appear.
6) Depending on which Type you save as, an extra box will appear that allows
you to change settings for your file (quality, compression, resolution, etc).
Hope that helps
