Windows 2003 Server can't see members of Windows 2000 Domain
Hi there,
The problem I have is quite straight-forward to describe:
I have an existing Windows 2000 domain to which I've
recently added a new Windows 2003 Server. From my Active
Directory the new server is part of the domain and users
can log into the new server. However I'm having problems
setting permissions on Shares, etc on the 2003 Server. In
the 'Security' tab of a folders properties when I try and
Add a new user only local machine users show up. The
domain is visible dublin.xxx.com but none of its users and
machines are visible. I have tried to add objects (Users,
and computers) by using the correct syntax (as opposed to
selecting them from a list) but I get a message saying the
Object [e.g. myuser@dublin.xxx.com] cannot be found.
My question is: should a Windows 2003 Server be able to
sit seemlessly in a Windows 2000 Domain or do I have to
start upgrading my domain, or is there something simple I
can do to fix the problem.
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Regards,
Ronan
