    Default Windows XP Firewall

If I enable the ICF that comes with XP, does that provide
sufficient security for my computer, or is a Firewall
    from Norton or McAfee preferred?

It depends - what are you intending to secure, and from what?

ICF is certainly sufficient to prevent many of the most common and most
damaging attacks. I've installed it at a neighbour's house, and they
haven't noticed any difference, except for the total absence of Messenger
    Service spam.

    Also, are you using AOL?
AOLs proprietary software is not compatible with the firewall in
    Windows XP.
Contact AOL and/or get another firewall.

    Hi

I didn't see your original request - which firewall? Stating the make of your firewall may enable someone to help. Any other details pertaining to your problem - error messages etc. - would be helpful as well.

If you purchased your PC from Dell, then they should have supplied you with support contacts - 'phone, email etc.
