Almost everything you might play with Mac Windows Media Player will work
as well with MPlayer, and with the added bonus of not selling your soul
to the devil or sending your computer to the cleaners.

    Available for OS 9?

    I'm running 9.2.1 on a G3.

I downloaded the WMV player and installed it but even after placing
the plugins into the browser plugins folders all I get is the embedded
text of the file itself - no video. I tried IE 5.1, NS 7.0, and Moz
    1.1.

I was able to download a couple of video clips on Usenet to test it
but that was also a 50/50 proposition. Some played and some didn't.

I also found the installer had installed file relationships into PC
Exchange but did not remove the defaults. I had to manually go in and
    edit them out.

The darn thing won't respect drag-n-drop either. You have to open a
    file from within the program

    What a piece of crap.

This happens to me all the time (OS9), so I always select to download
    the file to disk.

It's saved as a Simpletext file (weird though -- the icon looks like the
"read only" ones that come with installers, not like a typical
    Simpletext file).
Then, instead of double-clicking, I use the WMP's "File - Open" command.
The icon then instantly changes to WMP's and all is fine.
