Default Word crashes on Copy function

Running Word 98 on G3 OS9.1.

Every time I highlight text to copy or cut word will crash and I have to
re-start to get it back up. Can this be fixed or can I un-install and
re-install Word?

A long time ago someone posted the following:
::Copy/Paste Errors: This is a known problem with MS Office 98 crashing
::when you are doing "cut & paste" and a few other simple things. It
::has to do with some Office files being replaced by older versions
::when you install certain programs (like Photoshop, OS 9, IE 5,
::Mindspring 4, Outlook Express 5.02) . The Microsoft Knowledge Base
::describes the problem and gives a simple fix (for the Mac) -- you end
::up throwing out four extensions and then restart an Office 98
::program. The four extensions to "trash" (all from the Extensions
::folder in the System Folder) are Microsoft Component Library,
::Microsoft OLE Automation, Microsoft OLE Library, Microsoft Structured
::Storage. After you've put these in the Trash, close all folders and
::then start an Office 98 program. This will automatically insert a
::fresh copy of the needed files.
::
::From: http://www.microsoft.com/ - go to Support -- then go to
::Knowledge Base, then look for Office 98 for Macintosh and the
::specific Article ID is Q253336.
