Word text boxes go to background when converted to PDF - Adobe Acrobat Windows

I'm working with a Word doent that makes extensive use of text boxes. The page has a background watermark image. (MS Word 2000, Acrobat 5) When I covert the file to PDF, the resulting file puts the background image in FRONT of the text boxes! Any suggestions or ideas about what's going on? I've tried using the Word "order" commands to make sure the text boxes are in front (on the topmost layer) before converting--no effect....

When you convert a word doent/template the work you did in word to make it a viable form does not come across in conversion process. You will have to setup the form fields in Acrobat.

I have exactly the same problem - and Acrobat exhibited this issue before. I would suggest that one of the changes made by MSoft has now resulted in Acrobat PDFMaker 5.0 becoming incompatible with Word2k. Interestingly enough creating exactly the same Word doent through the online PDF creator generates a correct PDF. Could it be Adobe have conveniently not fixed this incompatibility to persuade people to pay to convert online?!?

Larry I sorry but I neither see nor currently understand how setting up a form field in the malformed PDF can force the correct ordering within the doent. Any further information or pointers would be gratefully read.
