Default Word to PDF Doesn't Keep Links

I bought Acrobat Standard so I could convert Word documents to PDFs with graphics and clickable links. However, the links are not clickable when the Word doc gets converted into a PDF. What can I do? Please help.

    iMac G5 - 10.3.9
    Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.0.8
    Microsoft Word 10.1.6

    Thanks

Sadly, that feature doesn't work in Word (any version) for the Macintosh. You must use Word (any versions) for Windows instead to retain hyperlinks, as well as much other metadata.

There has been a lively discussion about why this is true. Apparently, until recently, Microsoft didn't publish the "hooks" for developers to do that. More recently, I've seen discussion that this is no longer true, and Adobe needs to update the PDFMaker in Word and the other Office products on the Mac to be able to do this.

What??!! I bought this specifically for this feature and I made it clear when talking to the sales person at Adobe.

Is this documented somewhere by Microsoft or Adobe?

By using the Link Tool (go to Tools > Advanced Editing > Link Tool you can make any part of a PDF link to a web page, another page of a PDF, open a file, or, creat a cusotm link. Of course, this is done after PDF creation, so its not as nice a solution as the Windows version, but it will get the job done.

Thanks SWS, that may be my only option. However, I plan on calling Adobe back and giving them my not so happy thoughts.

A follow-up to sws comments - if the content of the text actually
depicts the external link then you can go Advanced/Links/Create from
    URLs in Document/

Jon, Thank you for what is almost a great solution. Do you know if that feature is available in the Standard version that Tom purchased? (I only have Pro versions currently installed.)
