Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
To ensure that PDF versions of letters or proposals include our company letterhead, we have always used the TouchUp Object Tool in Acrobat 4 to copy the letterhead graphics out of a PDF version of our letterhead and then onto a PDF version of our MS Word documents. However, my company has recently upgraded to Acrobat 6 Standard and we are no longer able to copy and paste the letterhead images.
I've seen elsewhere in this forum that the TouchUp Object Tool is only available in Acrobat 6 Professional. If that is the case, is there any way to use the existing tools in Acrobat 6 Standard to copy and paste letterhead graphics into another PDF file? This is extremely frustrating as all of our sales people are now coming to me (since I have Acrobat 6 Professional on my Mac and kept Acrobat 4 on my PC) to do what they were always able to do themselves.
Help!!

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
TouchUp Object Tool is only available in Acrobat 6 Professional.
(I fear I don't have a solution, but I just have to comment that it seems rather silly of me to have done this: those people who want this tool probably have a specific use for it, such as your staff, but likely do not desire/need it so strongly that they will pay another $400 to get it if a work-around is available. "Form Fields" is another, more useful feature, that they do not include in "Standard"; this tool is used a fair amount, but, I feel, in the face of paying another $400 to get it, most "Standard" users would simply curse & look about for AA5.)

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
One solution would be to make the logo into a custom stamp. However, then you would have the problem that annotations don't print by default. You could refry the stamped PDF to "flatten" the stamp into the PDF though. If you do this, make sure that "Print what" is set to "Document and comments."
Refry = printing the PDF back to the Adobe PDF printer.

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
Why not make sure the letterhead images are in the original Word document?, seems an odd way of working to create the pdf from word, then add the graphics afterwards.
To use the paper copy analogy, it's like gluing the logo on after you have printed the document ...

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
Unfortunately, we can't integrate the letterhead graphics into MS Word. The letterhead was created in Quark, bleeds off the edges and has elements in all four corners and partway down one side. Word just isn't structured to handle that. As a result, we have used the "glue the logo on after printing the document" approach and it's worked very well up until now. The TouchUp Object Tool was ideal for this process as it allowed us to copy all of the elements simultaneously and then paste them into the exact same positions on the PDF of the letter.

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
Although the quality might suffer a little, you could convert the Word document to a PDF, use the SnapShot tool in Acrobat Standard to copy the letterhead to the clipboard, then, in the other PDF, go to Tools > Advanced Commenting > Attach > Paste Clipboard Image and then click the mouse button roughly in the area you want to insert the letterhead.
Because this is then considered a comment rather than an image object, you can move it and re-size it with no problem (and without needing the TouchUp Object Tool). You must simply remember that when printing the PDF, you choose to print 'Document and Comments', otherwise the letterhead would not be printed.

Re: Work-around for TouchUp Tool in Acro 6?
To accomplish what you want in WORD, save the entire letterhead (all 4 corners and side) to a graphic (eps, TIFF, WMF, etc). Then open the header and insert the graphic. Set the line spacing to exact and be sure that the graphic displays below the line. You can play with margins and such to put the graphic where you need it. This is the same way you can put a copy of a form into WORD as a graphic and then fill it out in the basic file.
It will work and is much more effective than playing with the PDF manipulation. Once you create the letterhead template, you simply use FILE>NEW><letterhead> and fill in the text. As I said, I used to fill forms out this way a lot. Once you figure out the setup it is easy. The key is the use of the exact spacing in the header. You can find an example at "http://wadavis.ece.vt.edu/af/af/files/Af0040a1.doc". Bill
