Default working with registry (kglad & others)

I'm new to ActionScript and am on a task to make the swf file run on a machine
for x no. of times after which it should ask for authentication. I've thought
of placing some registry entries and then try to play with them. How do I do
that? Or is there some other elegant method to achieve this? I've been on C/C
++ programming for some time now.

    Hoping for a detailed reply.

    Thank you all.

err... that's not really anything to do with ActionScript.

Yes, of course but not with Flash only. For instance,
Flash Studio Pro defines some interfaces to read/write
    registry entries. See packages:

    flashstudio.loadfromreg
    flashstudio.savetoreg
    flashstudio.regcreatekey

    Thanks Cesare,
The packages you've mentioned are bundled with FlashMX (i'm using flash 6.0)
itself or we need to install them seperately. Maybe then I'll need some more of
    your help later.

    Thanks again

No, these packages come with the program 'Flash Studio Pro',
which enables you to create exe files from swfs, and provides extensions
like the ones I have mentioned. To exploit these functionalities, your final
product has to be a .exe, you can't modify registry by running a .swf! It
    would be strange and dangerous.

    HTH,

    -c.
