Worst ever site for Dial-up - Macromedia Dreamweaver

It has to be www.macromedia.com ...and that is a crying shame. The 1 company who you should be able to look to for creating websites that are accessible for all users no matter what connection/platform etc and they have failed in a big way. Just wanted to try and get a message to MM about that. PLEASE SORT IT OUT thanks mark...

I think the Commodore were faster :)

While I can sympathize with your pain, it's not much better on broadband
(and folks wonder what's wrong with sites made in Flash)

I did... once. But since the "Accessible" version still has Flash components such as the top nav bar, and since I've never been able to find a version if the exchange that wasn't flashed to death, and since I don't have Flash installed on the computer I use every day, ...

Well, I think you get the picture. :(

And while I'm on my soapbox...

Another reason I no longer go to the MM site is because I got really tired of the screens telling me I had to enable cookies. I have session cookies enabled, but I do not allow persistent cookies on any computer. Never have, never will. If they want to track page views and such, that's fine; but I'd rather that they do it in a manner that is not personally identifiable.

Bottom line, IMVHO, is that MM has joined the ranks of those who feel that their visitors should change their preferences and surfing habits to view the site the way MM wants them to instead of the way *I* want to.

Next thing you know, MM will add a disclaimer at the bottom of the page. You know, the amateurish ones that reads

"This site best viewed in Internet Explorer version 6 with a screen resolution of 1024x768 at 32-bit color"

Oh well... their site, their choices. My computer, my choices. :)

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, (and because I'm boared at the moment) I went to the MM site using my testbed with all cookies enabled and Flash 6 player installed. I *still* saw a message on the home page that said I may not have everything I need to view certain sections of macromedia.com (in re: cookies - I checked to see what the site wanted). I was still unable to get into the exchange becaues I didn't have cookies enabled (yes, I did - even the persistant ones that I'll delete later)

I clicked on each item in the top nav bar one time, did a search for "exchange" since there's no direct link to it that I can see on any of the pages mentioned, and went to the exchange.

    The results are interesting...
