    Default would like to know about shadows

    hi
    i wanted to know if we can apply shadows to a model. I have a file in which
    i have a man standing and i have a light source as the sun . now i want to move
    the light in various position such that i can get the shadows respectively as i
    move the light. now is it possible to get shadows if yes plz tell me the way
    would like to know.

    Director lights cannot create shadows. If you're using 3D MAX to model your
    scene, you can fake shadows by rendering the lighting and shadows onto the
    textures using the "Render to Texture" feature of MAX and then export the
    animated textures on the model.

    Here's an example of "baking" a shadow. I've put the shadow in the ground
    shader's second index (multiplied), so I can move the shadow around. I've
    seen examples of calculating where the light is coming from and mapping the
    shadow dynamically, but that's a whole 'nuther step that I've yet to figure
    out myself.

    Fair warning, some of the older 3d cards, specifically ATI cards have
    trouble with this. You can see a similar example of shadows here, but you'll
    really need a good 3d card to run it. The shadow is on the rings of saturn.
