    If it's really the third partition, shouldn't that be (hd0,2) ?

    That's what I would have thought, except that the entry (hd0,0) works
    for the second partition. Any explanation?

    Does the rest look okay?

    fdisk says the disk looks like this, while the listing above was from
    partition magic:

    /dev/hda1 * 14 260 1983996 1b Hidden Win95 FAT32
    /dev/hda2 261 4590 34780725 7 HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/hda3 5774 9729 31776570 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
    /dev/hda4 1 13 104391 83 Linux

    ...

    At any rate, all three OS's boot fine now. Thanks for your help.
