You need to cut a circular path in half:

    Draw your circle.

Drag a guide from the top ruler in your document, so that it intersects to
two vector points at 9 and 3 o'clock. If your rulers aren't showing, go to
    VIEW>RULERS.

Using the Knife tool, click and drag horizontally so that the knife cuts
through the two vector handles at 9 and 3 o'clock. The guide will help keep
    the cut straight.

    Deselect the circle.

Use the Pointer Tool and click on either half of the circle. You'll see that
we now have two halves. These are now considered open paths because they are
    not completely connected.

    Type two separate text objects.

Use the Pointer Tool and Shift-Select One path and one text object.

    Attach to Path.

Do the same for the other path and text object.

This method not only gives you the ability to add/align multiple text
objects, but also gives you the control over each element. In this manner,
you can have different alignments, offsets, even directions of text.

This is a short excerpt from one of my tutorials on CMX, entitled
"Positioning Text on a Path". Hope it helps.
