wrong desktop icons after OS 10.4 install

Hi forum friends,
I noticed a couple of Acrobat related things after installing OS 10.4 (Tiger):

1 existing pdf icons (on the desktop only) are replaced with a generic icons.

2 selecting these desktop pdfs open in "preview" only (even after resaving and replacing them on the desktop). btw: all other distiller and acrobat making functions seems to be OK. it's just what to do with the existing desktop files.

Should I reinstall Acrobat? I have the 1.0 CS version.

If so, am I required to first remove Acrobat and Distiller (how best to do it)?

So far, 10.4 has messed much up on my machine, so I'm being careful not to start now.

Select a generic PDF icon, Get Info, and change Open With to Acrobat. You will also have the option to change all PDF files to open with Acrobat. The default for OS X is to open with Preview.
