    Default Wrong Page Size

I am trying to make an 11 x 17 pdf by first making a .ps file and then distilling. But, no matter what I do, I always end up with an 8.1/2 x 11 pdf. The document prints correctly (11 x17) to the actual printer, and I am using the newest driver so I don't know why this is happening.

Yes, I can make the pdf correctly using the Adobe PDF Printer Description under set-up. But, I have always made pdfs, elsewhere, using the Printer Description of the printer that I am printing to and have never had a problem... and it's bugging me. Can anyone here advise me on this issue? Thanks.

And, step by step, how do you get from application file to PostScript?

I don't have that XPress, but you should probably avoid a PDF button
like the plague. That won't use Acrobat.

Use the Adobe PDF printer, choose Print.

Yeah guys, I was trying to make the pdf by postscripting with the printer's driver and then distilling. The thing was that the Distiller setting was set to 8.1/2 x 11 as a default. I changed that under the Edit Adobe PDF Settings at the bottom of the window where it says Default Page Size. I read somewhere on these forums that you can check the ps file by opening it up in text edit and getting info, which I did not know. When I did that, it confirmed that Quark was making the postscript to the right size which then, in turn, made me investigate the problem more thoroughly in Distiller and... voila! I just naturally assumed that the problem was with Quark because.... well... you know. Thanks all :)

That should only effect .eps files, not .ps files

You have to use it in order to make the .ps file in 10.4.x Not very intuitive.

Yes, that's true in 10.4, and its actually titled Make Poscript file from PDF. ;-)

in X.3.9 its listed under output options create Poscript file after you check a check box to activate. :-/

Ok. The name suggests that it has been through PDF and back to
    PostScript.

Also the behaviour suggests a generic PostScript, rather than PPD
    specific PostScript is being made.

    No, no further suggestions.

I suppose They had to change some names around so you would know they made changes. Personally I think its misnamed. And they fellow that named it needs forty Lashes with a bullwhip.

Its actually the same command as before.

At least in OS.3.9 it was named correctly.
