    Hello Sam,

Thank you for your posting. From your post I understand that the problem is
actually related to linked server to Informix . Since these kind of issues
are complex, I would suggest that you open an incident with Microsoft
    Product Support Services via

we can have dedicated engineer to assist you.

When the problem occurs have you tried resetting the MSDTC log? Open
component services. right click on 'My computer', properties/MSDTC/reset log
Also please make suer you have installed the latest service pack (SP3) for
    Sql server 7.

Since the file i09b.dll is part of Informix client, you may want to
Obtain a hotfix from the Informix vendor for i09b.dll or double check
if you have installed the latest Informix client.

From our database, I found some similar issues but they are related to
Oracle. The issues were resolved by graning permission to the public for
the DBA_PENDING_TRANSACTIONS view on Oracle server. Therefore, I suggest
that you try to check permission distributed transaction related objects on
Informix server. Also, you may want to include Informix support in this
specific problem as they know more about their product.

Should you have further concerns on the issue, please feel free to post
    back.

    Thanks & Regards,

    | Not sure if this is the right palce or not, but I figure
    | I'd start here. We are using SQL Server 7 in this case.
    | We have link servers set up pointing to UNIX Informix
    | databases. Our event log for SQL Server hardware is
    | continually reporting a warning:
    | Event Type: Warning
    | Event Source: MSDTC
    | Event Category: (5)
    | Event ID: 53297
    | Date: 7/15/2003
    | Time: 8:04:31 AM
    | User: N/A
    | Computer: SERVERNAME
    | Description:
    | The XA Transaction Manager attempted to perform recovery
    | with the XA resource manager. The XA resource manager
    | reported that recovery was unsuccessful. DSN =
    | i09b.dll.
    |
    | This is an Ixformix 9.x database...
    |
    | Can't find any help in MSDN on XA errors or
    | warnings...anyone see this type of error before?
