XML, Copying Tagged Doc and Pasting in New Doc - Changes Structure
I use Windows XP & InDesign CS with the most current updates. I am trying to develop a system for doing page layout for my company that will be copied and pasted into a large, multiple page document all with XML tags. Then next month we will have to copy one of the page layouts out of that multiple page document and paste it into a new document. THEN we want to import the new XML file.
Problem is...When I copy the tagged document and paste it into a new one, the structure changes and no longer matches the correct hierarchy for the XML file. Is there a way to copy and paste and avoid this problem? PLEASE HELP!!

Dorothy,
Have you tried exporting the XML from the first document and importing it into the second?

Re: XML, Copying Tagged Doc and Pasting in New Doc - Changes Structure
Phil,
What I have to do is copy 1 page out of our booklet and paste it into a new single page document. That is where the order of the elements in the structure are getting switched around. That is before I can import the new XML (we will need a new one each time). I know I can rearrange them back to the correct order, but that wouldn't be a good idea for the rest of the staff to do. It seems like it is placing the elements in the structure in the order that the graphics and text frames load on the page when I paste it. Thanks for the advice though. Any more ideas?
