Having an issue with doing an article like featue... There are two swf files
with an XML to pull the data. The one on top creates a link and the other pulls
in a picture and text.

The issue is with the timing of the link as it seems a little out of wack and
I can get it right... example here: http://autoublog.com/au/xml

Here is the code for the first Flash file:

[Q]delay = 4000;
//-----------------------
function loadXML(loaded) {

if (loaded) {

xmlNode = this.firstChild;
image = [];

description1 = [];

total = xmlNode.childNodes.length;
for (i=0; i<total; i++) {

image[i] = xmlNode.childNodes[i].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue;
description1[i] = xmlNode.childNodes[i].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue;

}
firstImage ();

} else {

content = "file not loaded!";

}

}
xmlData = new XML();
xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
xmlData.load("images.xml");
/////////////////////////////////////
listen = new Object();
listen.onKeyDown = function() {

if (Key.getCode() == Key.LEFT) {

prevImage();

} else if (Key.getCode() == Key.RIGHT) {

nextImage();

}

};
p = 0;
this.onEnterFrame = function() {

filesize = picture.getBytesTotal();
loaded = picture.getBytesLoaded();
preloader._visible = true;
if (loaded != filesize) {

preloader.preload_bar._xscale = 100*loaded/filesize;

} else {

preloader._visible = false;
if (picture._alpha<100) {

picture._alpha += 10;

}

}

};
function nextImage() {

if (p<(total-1)) {

p++;
if (loaded == filesize) {

picture._alpha = 0;
picture.loadMovie(image[p], 1);

desc_txt1.text = description1[p];

picture_num();
slideshow();

}

}

}
function prevImage() {

if (p>0) {

p--;
picture._alpha = 0;
picture.loadMovie(image[p], 1);

desc_txt1.text = description1[p];

picture_num();

}

}
function firstImage() {

if (loaded == filesize) {

picture._alpha = 0;
picture.loadMovie(image[0], 1);

desc_txt1.text = description1[0];

picture_num();
slideshow();

}

}
function picture_num() {

current_pos = p+1;
pos_txt.text = current_pos+" / "+total;

}
function slideshow() {

myInterval = setInterval(pause_slideshow, delay);
function pause_slideshow() {

clearInterval(myInterval);
if (p == (total-1)) {

p = 0;
firstImage();

} else {

nextImage();

}

}

}[/Q]

Here is the second:

[Q]
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
xmlNode = this.firstChild;
caption = [];
url = [];
total = xmlNode.childNodes.length;
for (j=0; j<total; j++) {
caption[j] = xmlNode.childNodes[j].childNodes[2].firstChild.nodeValue;
url[j] = xmlNode.childNodes[j].childNodes[3].firstChild.nodeValue;
}
first_item();
} else {
content = "file not loaded!";
}
}
xmlData = new XML();
xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
xmlData.load("images.xml");
//
function first_item() {
delay = 4000;
q = 0;
display(q);
q++;
}
function timer() {
myInterval = setInterval(ticker, delay);
function ticker() {
clearInterval(myInterval);
if (q == total) {
q = 0;
}
fadeout();
}
}
function display(pos) {
over = new TextFormat();
over.underline = true;
//
out = new TextFormat();
out.underline = false;
//
newsMC.newsText._alpha = 100;
newsMC.newsText.text = caption[pos];
newsMC.onRelease = function() {
getURL(url[pos], "_blank");
};
newsMC.onRollOver = function() {
this.newsText.setTextFormat(over);
};
newsMC.onRollOut = function() {
this.newsText.setTextFormat(out);
};
timer();
}
function fadeout() {
this.onEnterFrame = function() {
if (newsMC.newsText._alpha>=0) {
newsMC.newsText._alpha -= 2;
} else {
display(q);
q++;
delete this.onEnterFrame;
}
};
}
[/Q]

Any help with the timing would be excellent!!
