Default XML Quiz!

I have created a quiz in director but have been told to do this in XML as the
outcome is much more user friendly. I have downloaded the quiz zip file from
the macromedia site and have tried to run this but keep finding the same error.
It says "Script Error: Handler not
defined"...."XMLObj=newobject('XML')...#newObject

I am using Director 8.5 so will that have any effect on it? Also, where can i
create my own XML document for my own quiz? Hope someone can help,
Thanks,
Pau;

Default Re: XML Quiz!

So long as you have the XML Xtra you should be OK (not positive though). The
old name on the Mac in 8.5 was "XMLParser PPC Xtra" inside the Director > Xtras
> Media folder. Or is that the quiz that does parsing with Flash? In which case
yes, you might need MX2004 (or MX). Which quiz file did you grab?

As for creating/editing XML docs there are a wealth of ways to do that. The
easiest is to use a text editor. I use BBEdit on the Mac, but most anything
will work (such as Notepad on the PC). If you want a more structured editor
there are many open source things out there, as well as commercial packages.

One that I've played with is at http://www.oxygenxml.com/index.html (but there
are hundreds of others, and many good open source editors).

If you do a google search for "XML editor open source" you'll get a lot of
hits. Could also drop by freshmeat.net or sourceforge.net and look around.
