XP Pro on an NT Domain
hi
im trying to connect a new xp pro machine to an nt server
domain which currently entertains a bunch of win98/95s and
one xp pro laptop
as far as i can see i have configured the new machine
exactly the same as the laptop but i cannot seem to get
onto the domain.
ive check the MS knowledgebase which addresses a known
problem with enabling netbios over tcpip and installing a
second protocol
ive done all this but still i can only ping the server by
ip and not by name. the server and all the other pcs see
me fine in network neighbourhood but cannot connect to me.
when i try to change from workgroup to domain in the
COMPUTER NAME CHANGES section im told "a domain controller
for the domain DOMAIN could not be contacted". Ensure the
domain is typed correctly etc etc etc
the domain is DOMAIN and the xp pro box is called PC12
any help would be greatly appreciated
