z-index issue - Macromedia Dynamic HTML

I'm trying to force a couple divs to reside beneath a erfish style menu but I'm at a loss as to which element to apply the z-index attribute to. Interestingly enough, the two problem elements both have background images applied to them. Any help would be much appreciated. The URL to the development page is http://www.monderer.com/xkoto....

erfish needs to have the highest z-index - say 1000, and the others
would be lower, between 1 and 999.

I should have been a little more specific. The erfish menu (ul#nav-main li
li) is already set to a z-index of 999 and everything else, as far as I can
tell is set to nothing or a z-index of 1 (I tried forcing the slide backgrounds
to a z-index of 1 with no change). The menu was working just fine until I
implemented the CNET carousel. I went through the carousel.js file and could
find nothing that sets a z-index for any of the elements it generates. The
menu will sit above the buttons but not the slide area. Safari and Firefox
both are unaffected by this though Firefox, IE6 and IE7 are all displaying the
lower promo box above the menu, despite the z-index for the menu li element
    being 999.

After combing through the code I discovered that I needed to add a higher z-index to the header div that wrapped all the navigation elements.
