There are many exciting apps built on this very-developer friendly application platform called Adobe AIR. It’s geek friendly because it eliminates the effort developers have to undertake in replicating the application for other operating systems. They can be rest assured that the application they make on Adobe AIR is compatible to run on most Operating Systems like Mac, Windows & Linux.

Some of the exciting Adobe AIR apps we recommend are:

Snackr is a nifty cool RSS reader which gives you an impression that you are watching TV as it scrolls RSS news feeds on the the bottom side of your desktop. You can obviously change the side you want Snackr to use.

Twhirl is an one-stop solution for all your tweeting. Most twitter users use it for their daily tweeting and there is a reason why they do it. It allows you to post images to TwitPic, cross posting to your Pownce or Jaiku accounts and you can search your tweets using tweetScan or Terraminds. There are other Twitter clients on the same platform and Tweetdeck is perhaps the only one which gives some competition to Twhirl if you want some client for basic tweeting.

MiniTask is a simple task management AIR application which basically lets you organize your daily tasks. It is just a to do thing which so many of us use very often. It supports drag n drop, copying and you can also set alarms. Nothing too fancy but very useful.

Snippage is the AIR app for you if you have to check out a certain piece of certain website time and again. You can capture a snippet of the website and put on your desktop. You can use it to see live game scores by cutting a snippet from some sports website andĀ  track the popular posts on digg.

If you want some music, then there is a FineTune Adobe AIR app which would be my pick until we will see similar application from last.fm. There is however an application if you want to listen to Pandora but then it’s worthless for users outside USA who can’t access Pandora.

Now you might want to play some music stored on your hard disk as well, in that scenario you might use Social Media Player. This media player is still very basic but then it’s the one of its kind on AIR.

ReadAir is for the information whore who spends like four hoursĀ  day reading and starring stories on Google Reader. You can put in your Google Reader ID in it and then you may read all the feeds in this cool app which provides your feeds in a different style. I wont say that I am going to give up the Google Reader for this, but it could be a possibility in future.

AlertThingy is however the most promising client if you are more inclined towards Friendfeed. This app will let you know about any updates from your Friendfeed friends.
